Paves the Way to Expand Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial Connectivity to Acronym’s Customers
Acronym Solutions and Network Innovations announced today that the two companies are entering into a partnership agreement to expand connectivity for Acronym’s customers by combining terrestrial and non-terrestrial network capabilities.
The partnership brings together Acronym’s strength in ground-based infrastructure and Network Innovations’ expertise in satellite communications—a uniquely Canadian solution to Canadian connectivity challenges.
Specifically, the collaboration brings Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite access to help solve critical challenges, including:
- Network reach: getting to customers and operations in areas where fibre, cellular, or other infrastructure isn’t available
- Network Redundancy: building resilient enterprise networks through the use of diverse redundant network access and services like SD-WAN
- Bandwidth Augmentation: providing additional bandwidth to support application and workflow requirements for remote offices and workers
"Acronym is excited to partner with Network Innovations to help solve some of our customers’ toughest connectivity challenges. Critical infrastructure providers in Canada often operate in remote or underserved areas. By combining traditional and satellite-based connectivity, we can continue to meet our customers’ evolving needs, because unique challenges require unique solutions."
John Papadakis, President and CEO of Acronym Solutions
Frank Czulo, President of Network Innovations Canadian Business Unit, commented, “We are excited to enter into this partnership with Acronym Solutions. FAQs
Q: What does the partnership deliver that wasn’t available before?
A: A turnkey blend of terrestrial fibre/wireless and LEO satellite connectivity, managed end‑to‑end under one service agreement.
Q: Who will benefit most from this solution?
A: Utilities, energy producers, governments, public‑safety agencies, miners, and enterprises operating in remote or underserved Canadian regions.
Q: What is Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite service?
A: LEO satellites orbit 500–2 000 km above Earth, enabling high‑speed (<100 ms latency) links suitable for real‑time applications compared with traditional geostationary satellites (≈36 000 km).
Q: Will existing Acronym customers need new hardware?
A: In most cases, only a compact LEO satellite terminal is required; Acronym and Network Innovations provide installation and integration.
Q: How does this improve redundancy?
A: Traffic can automatically fail over between terrestrial and satellite paths (or run concurrently via SD‑WAN), ensuring continuous service even if one network is disrupted.
